Digging back up this same thread, I have a 2007 GMC Yukon SLT and I'm going to be doing the same thing, added an OEM backup camera in the rear applique, and the wiring does not exist all the way through the body, so I will have to install all the way to the head unit. I'm going to do a write up, and include pictures of the install. I hope to be doing that here within the next week or two, so will come back with more soon.

Finished the install today, and working great! Here are the photos from the install that I did, following the same thread from the beginning, original post by ranorris2.

Here are all the parts that I used to make this work:
Backup camera: Dorman 590-076
Backup camera Video Cable: X002RTB14H (ordered from Amazon)
GM Connector Pigtail: GM Part # 13504593 (attaches to backup camera connector, makes for easy replacement in future)
Scrap Wire, 16Ga - Red/Black
Power converter: 12v/24v to 5v/3A (EPBOWPT DC converter, ordered from Amazon)
backup Camera VSS2 Adapter (purchased from Camera Source)
Solder Seal heat shrink wire connectors: (ordered from Amazon)

Here is the wiring diagram I put together that shows all the connections:

feed pigtail wires through rubber grommet (make sure to label which wires are for which connection!!!):

install converter on back panel (using double stick tape):

I started running RCA wire from head unit to the back - started from side panel through glove box:

i used a coat hanger to pull through:

I ran the RCA cable through the door seals and headliners along the passenger side of the vehicle.
I pulled the plastics off by the rear liftgate, both inside the vehicle and door side to expose where to run the cables through the grommet.

I made sure to run enough of the RCA wiring to give enough length all the way to the liftgate following the path of the wiring above, then cut a couple extra feet of the wire to be sure. I fed through the grommet pictured above.

Then with some of my scrap wire, I ran both a red and black back through the other direction for the power, down the passenger side rear pillar through the grommet leading to the exterior and up to the tail light:

I ran enough wire to have spare on both ends - in the liftgate as well as to the right rear tail light:

I next added the power from the tail light, using the solder heat shrink connections (red+green, black+black):

Then I went back to the liftgate and attached all connections to the power converter and wiring to the camera signal:

Lastly, up again to the Head unit I attached the VSS2 adapter - RCA female to male, power wire to trigger wire:
(will add picture soon)

hooked up and tested - working great and signal is great too! Note: don't put all the plastics back on until you test it out!!!
