RMS to RMS is right a lot of the time with higher end subs.. BUT the wrong box can change that in a heart beat. Your ohm loads can also change this.. If you're sub is say dual 4-ohm wired to a 2-ohm load, but your amps RMS ratings at 4-ohms is what meets your subs ratings, you're going to over power your sub.

I'm sure ya knew that Chip, but just stating it for those who don't.

Correct me if I am wrong, BTW. Lol

I concur Sir. I have a few general rules of thumb:

A: Never buy junk.
B: Match subs to box. (space/freq)
C: Match Amp to sub/box combo (RMS/freq)
D: Never buy junk!

or clip amp, even IF it works below recommended impedance.

For some reason, I am a fan of low ohms/high current. I know I shouldn't be, but when it comes to subs, I like to keep the impedance low and the juice flowing. You can usually find me with a stable amp matched to capable subs run parallel. That's how I usually wire subs. For mids and highs, I just match to recommended specs.

:Handshake: on A. B. C. & D.

I like high current as well, usually I try to stay around 1 ohm or higher for daily, though.

What is your current setup Chip?

Right now I'm running a single din Kenwood (w/aux jack-all I need) up front. I kept the entire factory Bose system in place, which is now even louder thanks to the signal bump from the HU. I then supplimented the Bose system with a punch 45.2, which is pushing a single 12" punch DVC, run parallel (the voice coils) in a bandpass box. I've got everything tuned (loosely) to stay between 80-160hz. It crams like you wouldn't believe!!! The funny thing is, I intentionally built this system to be cheap, quick and easy, while taking up the least space possible. I didn't expect it to impress me as much as it has. I did the whole thing with spare parts, and around $150 worth of new stuff.

If you're not ultra familiar with the Punch 45.2, it's seriously under estimated! The first one I bought was rated at 25x2, but it was certified at something like 125x2 rms. I love Punch stuff.

I would check with one of the guys (on here) that is currently working in the industry first. I've been out of the game for a minute, and just started looking around again. Fosgate may have sold out since I last dealt with them. I know Soundstream sure as hell did! When I was fully into it, Fosgate, JL, Soundstream, Phoenix Gold and PPI were running shit. So far, I KNOW Soundstream has totally sold out. I just installed a PPI for a friend. They still seem to be top notch. Not sure about the rest.
