I really like my Bose system, it sounds just fine to me for the music I listen too. The stock sub works fine also. The only issue I have is with the OEM HU. it's in a 01 Denali. How much work is needed to get a nice 2din HU to play nice with the Bose system? I have a large 7" Garmin that I use for nav, rear camera, and my XM. it would be nice to have it all in one unit. All thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.
I really don't want to spend an arm and two legs, but one arm is ok.

I'm not worried about putting the DD in, the face trim, that's an easy fix. I just want to keep my Bose system.

You will keep the Bose system with any radio you install if you hook up the wiring like normal. Only way to lose the Bose it to rewire each speaker (or by a bypass kit).

However, your sound will change with swapping the head unit out. Sometimes for he better, sometimes for the worse. In my 07, it actually got better.

You're probably going to need that 2nd harness for the Denali. It will connect right up to your BOSE system. The only thing you lose is the speaker fader(front to back, back to front).

There are a few good brands for head units that will have all your options. I'm a Pioneer fan but look at Kenwood and JVC too. Some models have everyting built in. If budget is a factor, some models are expanadable, So for example, you can add the Sirius/ XM module when you have the funds.

You will need the PAC unit to keep certain features. Besides Bose, do you have On-star?

If I'm not mistaken, his Onstar (if equipped) is toast and isn't upgrade-able to the digital system bc it's a 2001.

your correct, but I read where even if you don't use the OnStar, you need to get the right harness that includes it.
