Hi, new to the forum. My hvac resistor went out. Well I’m pretty sure. Climate control is stuck on AC and fan stays on with the key out. Bought a new resistor but the new one comes with a 7 pin wire harness and my oem has 3. It came with very little directions researched online and can’t find anything. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

There are differences in the resistors based on year and auto vs. manual controls. Sounds like you got the wrong resistor. When you say the fan stays on, do you mean the HVAC fan?

Tell us more about your rig -- model, year, and automatic (digital) control, or manual control. A pic of the control would help, too.

It could also be a defective control head.

What @Fless said, does sound like wrong resistor and harness. Need the info he specified to help look up correctly.

It’s a 2002 GMC Yukon Denali I believe it’s a manual I miss understood when the guy at oreillys was talking about. I figured based on research online that it was an updated version, seeing how they are prone to fail. The control module doesn’t respond to any change in speed temperature or direction, just stays on ac and is on high. Even when the key is out. Thanks.

So turns out I got the wrong resistor. I swapped the resistor with the new one and still nothing changed. Could it possibly be the climate control? The climate control doesn’t respond to any change.

Hell, anything is possible. Did you try to disconnect the battery cables and touch the cables together for 30 seconds and then reconnect and try again?
