I have never owned a hydroboost vehicle before so this may be common knowledge but should the steering wheel move at all if you push the brakes? Had to replace the hydroboost last year and since then (can't remember before) my wheel will move (sometimes a fair amount if I am turning) when I hit the brakes. Does this mean I need to rebleed the system or is it pretty normal?

Apologize, because I don’t have hydroboost, so cannot speak from first hand experience.

However, I definitely would not expect this to be normal operation.

I’m sure someone will be along shortly to elaborate, one way or the other.

Not normal but very concerning!

Could be a brake sticking and pulling the vehicle to one side in turn pulling the wheel some.

^^^ THIS. Check for a sticking caliper, slide pins, etc. The hydroboost system wouldn't cause this. When you apply the brakes, does it always pull in one direction?

Double check fluid level, and see if you can find a system bleed procedure online. Hydroboost is great when it is working right, but i dont like 2 systems tied together because one can affect the other if there is a problem. And since BOTH run off of the power steering pump, if the fluid is low, pump is getting weak, or there is air in the system both systems are compromised.

I don’t think it’s a sticking caliper as it happens even while stopped just not as strong. It’s not a dangerous jerk or anything just noticeable especially if you aren’t paying attention.

the pump does whine a little and will be replaced at some point so maybe it’s not generating enough pressure for the system? I will check the fluid level but it was properly topped off after replacing the hydroboost and it did it at that time as well. I don’t care for the system. I wish I could swap it for the vacuum assisted system and get rid of all this garbage in the engine bay

Noggles- you have the best system Gm used for Brakes. You have an unresolved issue if it continued after changing Hydroboost. My first suggestion is to Flush the Fluid system.
Do you know if the power steering pump was ever changed? Keep updating, we will get you to a proper solution.

I mostly don't like it because of the extra complexity and hoses in the engine bay. I know it hasn't been changed in the last 5-10 years but not sure if it happened before my family owned it. I plan to start with flushing the power steering fluid and making sure its bled properly. After that it may be time for a new pump especially because of the faint whine
