Been trying to get stuff done lately so I haven’t even put the CV shaft on the Esky yet. I’ve had a lot of parts come in for my sled and my brothers. Gotta make sure they are ready to go when the snow starts flying.
I have to change my center shock spring to a heavier one to get some weight off the front end.
When I pull the skid I’m also gonna pull the driveshaft and drivers so I can get the track off. I ended up buying a new Camoplast backcountry track. One on there now is 153” long x 15” wide and has 2.6” paddles. New is 153x15x1.75. This is gonna help me big time on packed trails. The big paddles spin and slide on trail but kick ass in the deep powder.
In order to get the skid and track off, I’m gonna need to get this thing in the air. So I ended up making a lift for it. Gonna lift it 34” off the ground.
Side note: don’t use an impact driver on these jacks. It beats the hell out of them. I ended up breaking a bolt that holds the 3/8 drive adapter to the jack’s shaft. Using a drill or air ratchet is a lot smoother.
Also ran out of welding wire and I only have about 6” of weld left to do before I can lift my sled.
Put a HyGear suspension link on my brothers sled. It positions the shock more vertical for better ride. He ordered extra capacity remote canisters for the shocks so they should be here any day too.
I ordered a set of these overload springs for the times I have a passenger. You turn the cam block in front of the spring and it pushes the spring up to contact the axle so it adds to the carrying capacity. Turn it down when riding solo so it’s not a rough rider with less weight. You can see the one closest is up and the one on the other side is down.
Today is the wife’s birthday so I had to take her to a Cubs game last night. They lost to the Reds but it was still a good time. 15 rows off the field, pretty good seats.
I had to take a NP205 transfer case and convert it from mechanical gear driven speedo cable to an electric hall effect speed sensor.
I found the reluctor ring from a 241 case has the same spline count as the 205 mechanical gear drive one.
Had a friend take rear housing to work and he filled the hole from the old gear driven cable and then drilled and tapped for speed sensor. All I had to do is get the air gap set. Worked out great.
