I build jet engines for a living, but I can't figure out step one to changing out the spark plugs on my 06. How do i get those stupid wires off of the plugs. Whats with that metal casing over the plug? does it pull out? Does the wire pull out of the metal casing first??? HELP ME!!!!!!!!!

Lol just twist them close to the plug as possible, the metal cans are heat shields due to the close proximity of the exhaust manifolds. My wires didn't want to come off easily but just give them a twist and they should pull right off. Have fun with the passenger rear plug too, angle and shorty extension is key for doing plugs in these things

Thanks Max! I have the ac delco iridiums. I believe they are supposed to be .040?

I think I need a new wire. The metal part that attaches to the plug just pulled out and stuck to the plug. Can I put that back on the wire?

Yes you can put it back on the wire, don't adjust the gap on the iridium plugs or you may damage the electrode...that gap is fine btw some standard plugs just come with .060 or higher which isn't optimal for these trucks.

No worries dude, best of luck don't forget to dial up a bit of anti-seize on the threads of the new plugs.

Changing plugs is always fun, that's why the last time i did it I just ordered new wires, because I new I would bust em up, and I did! The set up sucks on these trucks, the back ones are nearly impossible to get too!
