hey everyone, i'm new to the forum. I just recently got a 1999 GMC Yukon as my daily driver. i paid a pretty penny for it (and still am paying), but it's decent all around, and has less than normal mileage for it's age (116k when i bought it in Nov 09 - at 119k now).

I just wanted to say hi cuz i plan to work on this truck myself as much as I can and keep it until it completely rots away (totally possible here in New England LOL). It has a few minor issues right now, but nothing totally urgent - just the usually stuff that crops up around this age for a vechicle (gonna need a new tranny soon, door hinges re-welded, etc).

but ya, i had an '84 Jimmy before this that i fell in love with, and hated to part with, but like momma said "restoring cars is a rich man's game." and unfortunately she was right.

Well this Yukon aint no 80's K5 Jimmy, but it's still great!
and i'm glad to be part of this forum now :-D

thanks for the warm welcome! :)
well i just wanna get the things fixed right now that'll affect it's longevity.
but there's two main things i wanna do - first off is figure out why it's hesitant when doing warm starts, but that'll come in time since i don't exactly run errands with it - just to and from work.
the second thing which i REALLY want (the Jimmy had it) was dual exhaust, straight back to the rear bumper or dual side exits. both are great. just the stock exhaust is too damn quiet that it hardly makes the 350 sound threatening.
oh, and i need to go pick up a K&N air filter... been meaning to do that since i bought it.

other than that i think i'm really just gonna keep it stock - i like it the way it is :). tho that may change down the road.
i gotta take care of one lip of developing rust that's on the bottom inside of the driver's side rear door. all the other doors are fine.
after my last car (that story can come later), i'm just glad to have some decent American steel that's still running great and i can easily find parts for. Not to mention the great fanbase of followers and aftermarket parts that can be found! I knew there was a reason guys loved these trucks and wanted to keep them running for 20+ years :-D

and lastly, i paid 6K for it - 3K in cash, the rest by loan which i'm paying off in the next year. that was 1K higher than i wanted to pay, but all these trucks were getting scooped up for winter and i needed one for my new job, so it was now or never. and the mileage was lower than the rest that i saw too.
it's all good tho, i'm in it for the long haul :3

HOLY SHIT! You got ripped!

If you like loudness of dual exhaust...obviously not the looks bc you stated sound. YOU don't NEED exhaust. Get a different muffler.

Our stock 350 isn't threatening...coming froma decent modded 350...

Welcome -- yours is the GMC twin of my Hoe :)

Taunton -- cool, I'm originally from Hanson (next to Hanover/Whitman) -- lived a few years in Quincy too --- down on Long Island now though.

"HOLY SHIT! You got ripped!" - trust me when i say i got a good deal. the other 'hoes and 'burbs in the area with the prices they'd want for their condition/mileage/etc were just outlandish. besides, it was November and everyone was buying up the trucks for the winter.
oh well, i'm happy with it ^_^

if i'd really been able to have it my way i would've driven down south and gotten another old K5 Blazer, but with how things were going at the time there was just no way that was going to happen.

i like both the looks AND sound of duals :] and ya i could get away with just a new muffler. having dual exits on one side isn't that bad after all...
and the stock 350 is threatening when you're previously coming from driving a 2L 4-banger for the longest time lol

ya i've seen a few clones of mine around. i just can't believe they called the Tan color "Champange" >_>
i would've loved to have a red one, just to name it "Big Red 2" :-D
