Agreed. I had to have a muffler shop weld the socket from my stock catback to the Borla, and install the catback itself...$150. I told my son that the reason I did all that (other than laziness) was to show him the benefits and savings of doing your own work.Contemplated getting underneath and cutting out the factory muffler and installing the magnaflow muffler that I've had sitting in my garage for like 2 years. Couldn't get the guts to cut it today and use exhaust clamps and extra piping to put it back together with the magnaflow. But I got close.
I just struggle to justify paying a muffler shop $140 to cut out the factory muffler and weld in my magnaflow.
But I'll have to do something eventually because I want it to have a little more sound. Since its a V8 in a "truck" afterall..
is the shaft on suv's different? longer? shorter? i have a minor binding issue on the lift on the Silverado which is directly related to the steering linkage, wondering if a suv shaft would resolve it.Great information!!
Although it seems you can’t purchase that piece by itself. Have to purchase the intermediate shaft assembly.
Yeah your truck sounds great with that borla. I need that sound!Agreed. I had to have a muffler shop weld the socket from my stock catback to the Borla, and install the catback itself...$150. weird not sure how people like a straight pipe on these mine sounded like shit with no muffler, maybe it's because I have used some form of performance exhaust for 40+ years so a plain pipe sounds terribleTook the step of cutting out the factory muffler today and exhaust clamping in a straight pipe for now (kept resonator). I'll tackle the magnaflow muffler another time. It sounds great with the muffler delete and keeping the resonator in the rear.
I was surprised as well because normally muffler deletes sound terrible in my opinion too. I think the resonator still being there is a big part of it.weird not sure how people like a straight pipe on these mine sounded like shit with no muffler, maybe it's because I have used some form of performance exhaust for 40+ years so a plain pipe sounds terrible
