but they should come with the resistors already in the lights from what I have read and should work right when they are installed?
1. Yes, they should.
2. Yes, they should.
Like W-jj said above, the braking blinking will be off. That may or may not be a concern, since only the people behind you will really notice that the blinking is "off." If your lights blink quickly, though, that's a PROBLEM in the light or wiring.
Everything else is plug-and-play in the sense that the lights are all interchangeable in that space and all bolt right in with no mods; and the wiring should just be a matter of disconnecting and reconnecting the harnesses under the bumper. The instructions may show something about undoing the bulbs from the factory lights or something, but there's no need to do any of that when going to LEDs.
All we're warning is that these are relatively cheap, mass-produced who-knows-where lights with who-knows-what kind of labor, and plenty don't work the first time around. But they look cool, and you SHOULD demand that the problems be worked out (if there are any), and you'll be happy.
Oh -- I know Soph started this thread, and I think that he's already swapped his lights once before. But for anyone else looking at this thread, you MUST PROTECT YOUR BUMPER before removing and reinstalling any tail lights! It's so easy to scratch your paint removing these things. You've got to tape some cardboard or something to the bumper so that the bottom edges of the lights can't gouge the bumper. You'd be a fool to not protect the bumper first.
