I've been running the 5.3 factory exhaust, so this week I bought the equivalent year for an escalade factory exhaust; Y pipe back. In my stupidity, what I failed to do was recognize that I was buying the exhaust off an escalade ESV.
I haven't pulled the exhaust off my Tahoe yet, and from glancing under my Tahoe to looking at the bought system, I can't tell where the extra length is. Does anyone know where I'll be cutting and welding to make the ESV system the same length as the stack Tahoe? In other words, is the added length after the Y pipe and before the muffler or after the muffler?

The extra length of the vehicle is in the rear foot area and 1/4 panel so that should be where the exhaust needs shortening for the different components to match up to the body properly.

You in Florida? I want an ESV or Denali XL exhaust system and Y-Pipe in preparation for when mine gets a 6.2.

Thank you. I was looking at it. I think you are right , but I question myself because the over the axle bend and resonator look like they both start immediately after the axle bend on my Tahoe and the ESV. That makes me think it may be in front of the muffler. I appreciate your input.

Gotta love his truck. It’s a 13 PPV that he swapped the 150k 5.3L with a 6.0L from a 3k mile hybrid truck motor … with a new 6L80 … running the original ECM programming!

FYI .. The configuration of the 6.2L Denali & Esky down pipes changes on 07 - 08 & 09-14.

08 & 09 Tahoe had a 6.2L option. Finding a pic of what that exhaust looks like would be key.

FYI .. The configuration of the 6.2L Denali & Esky down pipes changes on 07 - 08 & 09-14.

08 & 09 Tahoe had a 6.2L option. Finding a pic of what that exhaust looks like would be key.

The earlier exhaust uses a 2-bolt flange to connect to the Y-pipe. The later years use a band clamp. The 5.3s made the switch in 2009 to the band clamp.

The early Y-pipe uses 2.5" tubing with the 2 cats. The 2011+ Y-Pipe is 3.5" tubing with 3 cats. This is for the 6.2s only.

My 2009 5.3 has 3 cats and the band clamp. Don't know if the earlier years used 2 or 3 cats. They did use the 2-bolt flange.

he's running a higher compression 6.0 off the untouched 5.3 ecm and program?

what cam did he use? I would strongly suggest he tunes this truck, atleast a run a few logs thru hptuners go see what's going on. the entire timing calculations are based off airmass, and that bigger engine run at a completely different airmass and different part of the timing tables. I could see a difference in logs just from cleaning my maf. fuel has a bit of feed back loop from the o2 but timing not so much.
