I have an 02 Tahoe LT 4x4 with 6" suspension and 35s. I've always toyed with the idea of running 37s one day but my main issue is that body lifts can potentially look ugly with gaps and the frame exposed, especially when it's in addition to a suspension lift. Plus I don't have running boards to cover up the frame. I was wondering what other options I would have for clearing 37s without a body lift?

And also with 37s I would imagine I'd need to regear. But also I've heard other people say that once you go to 37s on these trucks they put a lot more strain on everything than 35s. Would going to 37s possibly be more trouble than it's worth?

37's are way too big for 1/2 ton suspension imo your gonna have shorter life span on your driveline and brakes and forget about ever being able to use it as a tow rig its gonna be a slug off the line... Buy a 3/4 ton if you want to go that big

Yeah wouldn't push that size tires on 1/2 ton but to do it get some keys and spacers for 2" lift plus order 1.25" body lift. That should clear but depends on wheel offset

Yeah I hear ya. But what about all the OBS trucks on here running 37s/38s? Aren't those 1/2 ton? Is it safe to assume many of those are having things break a lot or having shorter lifespans?

Also I don't have any plans to tow anything so that really isn't an issue.

If your pushing 37" + tires on anything 1/2 ton your maxing the truck out thats why i say if you want to run tires like that your better served to get a 3/4-1 ton that equipped to handle them as in bigger brakes bigger axle heavier springs bigger motor etc

A friend of mine has an obs on 38s. He did say going from 35s to 38s wore out bushings faster. Still possible but not my preference on 1/2. We lift 3/4 for 37-40s.

Yeah probably not worth it cuz I can't afford to be wearing out parts all the time :(
