I'd like to get a little information on a 6 in lift. I was wondering what your guys thought was on how durable they are for some trails and muddin? I keep seeing that they wear out the front end parts pretty quickly. I've also thought about the sas, but theres a lot of a price difference there. Thanks for any help

With a mild sized tire and wheel combination, you wouldn't wear the parts as fast.

The 6" lift keeps the front suspension at its original geometry.
The bracketry just moves the control arms down 6" or so lower on the frame.

I've seen a few slightly different steering setups but it is usually a decent design sometimes with a steering assist link, according to some installers that I've spoken with.

I feel that if you don't go crazy with your tire and wheel choice you will be ok.

Like say a 315/75-16 on some 16x8" wheels.

He has two vehicles with the 6" lift and will be able to tell you more than I can.

What's your plan for wheels and tires?

I'm honestly not sure about the tires yet. Id like a nice clean look with the ability to still go off road. Still kinda up in air. I have been going back and forth about lift or straight axle for a bit now, I just dont wanna do something pointless

Tire size = clearance. The bigger the rubber the more crap you can clear. Hardcore wheelers like less lift and big tires. That means hacking into things for most of us though.

6" lift on 35s is a good combo. minimal to no trimming needed. Some people choose the do the 33s on a decranked 6" (About 4 inch lift of so at that point). Then you have room to grow.

See the thing is big tires also need new ratio gears to give you back the ability to push those things. I call these the hidden costs.

I like the rough country 6" kit. Comes complete with everything. I run one on my suburban and I really do like it.

so on the 6" RCX kit would i need a new drive shaft? what exactly would i need and where would i need to get it?

A new drive shaft would only bee recommended if your truck has Autotrac.

The RCX kit does come with all the parts you need including brake lines. Some exhaust work will need to be done also to clear the front drive shaft too.

thanks man.. mine is a 97 so no autotrac here ! ....... and when i had my exhaust ran i moved it back with that in mind! pretty sure im going to bite the bullet befor to much longer.

Gearing is a great idea if you are going to run larger tires. 4.56 is a decent choice for 35s
