95 Tahoe. When the PRND2 light is on, the tahoe runs great. When the light doesn't come on, it runs sluggish and barely moves. Replaced VSS -speed sensor on rear of transmission but to no avail. Took Cluster out to make sure connections were intact. No luck, but when I put the cluster back in, light came on to prnd2 and I drove it, but when I returned, and shut it off, and retried, the light didn't come on, and tahoe ran rough..
I thought maybe it could be the neutral switch or ignition? Also thought it could be a bad break in the solder on cluster or even wiring ???
I did check all the fuses, but all show fine.. Today I replaced with new cluster but only to have same results.:emotions122:

any help ?? [email protected] Kenneth

that same circuit powers the tranny and what you are feeling is it in limp mode because of power loss. the problem is somewhere in the ignition switch to the splice just downstream of the trans fuse circuit.

Thanks, so better to replace the ingition switch and the wires downstream to alleviate this possible error? Then if that doesn't resolve issue, any other ideas? thanks.. kenneth

most likely switch only. break out a multimeter when it fails. when key is in off or higher position. volts should be on the white wire from switch assy.

I can say with 100% certainty that PRND indicator being off doens't make your 95 truck run like shit. Mine's been out a while now and it ran like a ***** date ...

no put random words together.

the gear indicator is microchip operated it is very possible your microchip or something in that system is broken while electricity from the same fuse still provides the tranny with power.
