So I recently added a illuminated emblem to my 2015 GMC Yukon Denali. I was wondering if at all possible to match the color of the DRLs to the 6500k emblem? I haven’t had much luck looking online as they all seem to have poor reviews.

Anyone have experience changing the DRL inside the headlight assembly? And if so what brand?

Any responses would be appreciated.

Thanks

Where did you get the emblem?
I made it and am regretting not getting the color to match the DRLs. So I’m wondering if there is a way to change the DRL light strip inside the headlights. Any thoughts on this?

that emblem is pretty cool. I was really hopeful the 21 emblems would fit in the 15 but they’re like jumbo letters…. The only thing I dislike is that it illuminates behind the grill.

Actually, it doesn’t illuminate behind the grill. I was testing some leds for another idea while I had the bumper off and just left them connected until I take the bumper off again next week. If those LED lights weren’t on behind the grill it wouldn’t look like that.
Honestly, I just get bored lol

how did you make it?
It took a lot of trial and error but I figured out the best way was to buy some stock acrylic sheets and use my CNC machine to make letters slightly larger than the GMC inserts. I soldered some LEDs to fit into the voids after removing the inserts. Then I drilled small holes for the wiring, siliconed over the LEDs, added opaque/transparent led film prior to silicone drying (all precut prior to installation), then I carefully adhered the acrylic to the flat surface of the chrome on the emblem which was the most difficult part, as it only has about 3mm of flat surface prior to curving down. After drying for 24 hours, I applied clear waterproof automotive emblem adhesive to the letter inserts and placed them over the acrylic. Allowed to dry for 48 hours, then ran all wiring into a harness that I pieced together, added a “add a fuse” connection, and ran to my fuse box.

Hope this helps.

I’ll be making another one that is 5000k to match the DRL lights perfectly later this week. I don’t know what I’m gonna do with the first iteration, probably hang it on my tool box and plug it in. Lol

Honestly Tony,
I run my family’s two car dealerships and spend my spare time tinkering with stuff in my workshop. I hadn’t really considered selling these. I have pretty high standards when I market a product, whatever it may be. If I was going to sell these, I would need to do more work to make them as “perfect” as possible. I don’t like putting my name on anything that isn’t at least 99% out of the factory looking 100% operational (tried and true), if that makes sense.

What’s acceptable for me and my truck doesn’t necessarily mean it’s acceptable to someone who’s spending their hard earned money.

Truly don’t have an answer for you at the moment.
