Do the same issues occur if you leave it in park or neutral and go WOT? If they do then do a fuel pressure test and see if the pressures drop. If it only happens under a real load then most kits have hoses long enough to run them out the hood and up against the window. Go WOT and see i the pressure drops. Not the safest method but it works and will verify fuel pressure is the cause.

Yes WOT does the same thing. It will only go up to about 3800-4000 rpm and won't go any higher. Thanks for pointing that out.

sounds like a weak fuel pump, had 2 come thru the shop the last month with the same symptoms. hard starts, falling on its face at wot. changed the fuel pump on both = happy customers.

I agree with the fuel filter / pump idea. When my fuel pump went, I was on my way home from an oil change from the dealership. Truck idled fine and drove at low speeds. As soon as I tried accelerating the engine would die. It started right up, but I could not put any load on the engine. I limped it back to the dealership and they diagnosed the fuel pump was the culprit. I was told it is pretty common on our trucks.

I had the same issue with the 03KON . Changed the pump and filter and we are now 100%. The Kon hasn't done me wrong since.

Possible plugged fuel filter or faulty fuel pump I would check the fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge, if the fuel pressure is good then it maybe a faulty coil. If these are the coils Im thinking of they are in the plug wires. I would do a full tune up. Plugs, wires/coils, fuel filter, EGR valve and air filter. It never hurts to do a full tune up and it costs about $130 if you do it on your own. If you have it into a mechanic just to hook it up to a computer costs $75. Auto Zone they just use a code reader and if there no check engine light it wont show a code, that's why the computer at the mechanics shops are so expensive. I have the same code reader as AutoZone and if there is no light on I cant read any codes. Full Tune up is my recommendation. The plugs and wires are easy on these vehicles. fuel filter is up near your oil filter. Air filter is a no brainer and the egr valve is pretty simple. With a full tune up it will help your fuel economy also. Just my opinion and what I would do, it sounds like a coil not getting enough spark to get it over that 3800RPM mark? I wish I could help you out more.
