dumb question.......is the tranny different in a 2500xl versus a 1500xl, both are 4wd??

car is a 2000 yukon xl1500 4wd, 5.3l, slt, for some reason, i thought it was a 2500xl 4wd slt....................

thanks for understanding my stupidness.....

from 1/2 ton to 3/4 it is possible but i would suspect it only changes if the engine was different or the ordering of the truck had the option requested. Of course they could just add extra cooling capacity for the same tranny to better handle the strain.

1/2 ton or 1500 would have a 4L60E
3/4 ton or 2500 would be a 4L80E
So no they are different.
Do you have 6 lugs or 8?
6 would be 1500 8 would be 2500
