If the master cylinder is squared away and they are done with flushing the worst of thing out of the system...

Maybe tow it home and do the caliper replacement and bleed yourself. I have done one-man brake bleeds myself. Not a big deal. Use a bleed tube with check valve (like $10 from parts store) and plastic soda bottle method. Nothing fancy or expensive required.
100%. Sounds like this shop is just soaking you. It’s not a good place to be in. They have full control, as your vehicle is in their hands, not currently drivable, and they’re dictating what you “need” to have done. Based on your description, I’d certainly not be doing business with that shop again. And would probably share my experience with anyone interested in the feedback.

No way "mud" got in that brake fluid system. Only happens if in mud and something pops "OPEN". The fluid is heated and cooled over time and since the system is vented, it gets moisture in the air in to the system over time and that is why the fluid turns dark and can also have brake pedal fade if systems heats up enough and the water in system boils. Don't ride brakes going down steep passes/hills. Minimum brake fluid flush every 30k miles. If drive like @Doubeleive, then yearly flush. Brake system is most important system on vehicle. Use genuine GM parts or AC Delco. That fluid can get super dirty if neglected. If driving/bogging in water/mud and a dust boot allows water in and then that works on the piston seal over time, it can contaminate the system prematurely. Like I said, I mud bogged before and had to address mud problems but the truck was not my daily driver. It was only for bogging.

$165/h they are bringing me to the ******* cleaners $600+ and they still refuse a caliper replacement until I do rotors ALL 4 with my $300 of parts I handed them yesterday this is a $900+ ordeal **** because they’re still not done they have my truck practically hostage and taking me to the cleaners on my credit card
Wow. BS like this is why people don't trust mechanics.

I'd tell them not to bill one more hour. Hire a tow home or to another shop. $165/hr is ludicrous.

And this is why I work on my own shit!
I’m too broke to afford that kind of bill!
I’ll literally be changing parts in the parking lot then tell the shop to recharge my ac so I diddnt have to pay for a compressor install or check my alignment so I diddnt have to pay for having tie rods or struts install
There’s only ONE shop around home I go too because my boy Cody is a GURU for suspension and anything Chevrolet so he’s the only one I trust to do my alignments.
Shit when they recharged my ac I don’t even think he charged me for it as I already paid for my alignment and he diddnt it want to do another ticket. He told the boss it was full and diddnt need to be done and let me slip out the door. These are the types of shops you want to look for! Most shops will **** you just because they think they can get away with it

I won't go to a shop that is TOO clean. A mom & pop shop with oil and kitty litter on the floor is usually the kind that is busy enough all day and barely have time to sweep up between jobs. If they're that busy, then they have enough repeat customers to fill their day from open to close. A shop that is too clean and has a buffet of free snacks? I can't bring myself to trust that kind of shop. Especially chain-owned/franchise shops.

Dealers are the worst I had to take my wife’s Chrysler to the dodge place for a abs pump reset after doing brakes and they wouldn’t do it because of mix matched branded tires and then charged me 145$ for a “troubleshoot” and basically hooking a scanner up
When the job itself was only supposed to be 135$ but they wouldn’t do it.
If I had it back I would’ve took the whole damn granola bar/kurig cup stand and walked right out the door!
Ended up going to the mom and pop shop close to home they have to call in to some side company to reset it with their tool but I diddnt know they even had it as their kinda old school
