I want to install a couple of 6x9s in my tahoe its a z71 w/ 3 rows and i was going to try and put them under the 2nd row seats but i measured it and a normal box wont fit under there. Anybody have any better ideas of where to put them in a box or something else im not going to put them in the very back because i always throw stuff back there. i might put them in between the the 2nd row seats and make a custom box w/ cup holders but i dont know how it would work out. Any ideas?

They willl fit under the 2nd row fine.. we actually found room to fit 4.. but there are pre fab boxes to fit 2 8s out there and i KNOW a prefab box to fit 1 ten and i think one to fit 2 10s... all under the 2nd row.

A center console between the 2nd row buckets would be sick and you could do cupholders too like you said.. and probably fit 1 6x9 facing back and 1 up sealed or if there is room too it in a ported h/o style box

why would you want 6x9s under the back seat???
if you want a fuller sound get pro audio speakers to replace your current speakers..
as for under the 2nd row. i know plenty of ppl with 2 12s under the back seat so you can get 6x9s to fit. i just installed 2 jl 13s (shallow mount) under the seat in a friends yukon. tight fit but it fit

lol me and you are gonna box Drop.. lol..

Although i agree with prefab boxes out there for 2 8s for a dime a dozen.. building a box for a pair of 6x9s under the seat sounds a little.. unnecessary.

But on the same note.. i know for a fact that 4 BAD ASS 6x9s WILL fit under the second row.. and be a full excursion speaker and will ROCK 2 shallow mount 12s out of their socks.

But then again im NOT talking about a coax or 3 way 6x9 im refering to an actual Sub.

I personally wouldnt waste the money on jl shallow 12s (in this case) since full excursion 10s will sound just as good for 1/6 the price.. or even running JL 8w3s would be a good option.

idk i like alot of bass but not in my ride haha. i just wanted something to make it louder from the back and i thought 6x9s would help and give me a little base. i will be pushing them pretty hard w/ a good amp. i dont know if you guys have the same second row as me i have the 2 single bucket seats and i measured it and there isnt much room unless i pull out those plastic covers and i didnt do that.

Not even shallow 8s. W1s would sound great under the seat.

question is....why 6x9's?

Some companys are making super tough 6x9s which mount at 3.5/4 inches that will handle 200+ rms as an alternative to shallow mount subs.. was the point i was trying to make.. whether that was the direction he was going or not i guess i didnt really ask.

Yea, was not asking you, was asking OP. :)

Didnt know if he already had them, or limited space, etc...

I'd do slim 10's or four 8's , but agree, there are some good 6x9's...but most are coax, or triaxle. If he's looking for bass, hard to find just ( non-coax) 6x9's.
