I just bought a 2001 XL 2500 tonite - picking it up on Monday! I'm primarily going to use this as a tow vehicle for a race car. I noticed that the truck is pre-wired for the trailer connector, but I didn't see a brake controller pre-installed (unless it is hidden/integrated somehow). Does anyone know if the 2001 2500 is pre-wired under the dash for a brake controller and there's an easly place to "tap in" when installing one?

Thanks in advance,

Dean

I had a 2000 silverado and there was a plug under the dash to plug into for the brake controller. The cord was like 10 bucks and it plugged right into the back of the brake controller. Make sure you get one that can be plugged into and not one that has the wires off the back that has to be wired in. I'm sure the yukons are the same way.

Thanks! I found a prodigy controller and an adapter online for my year/model - hoping they plug right in like yours did.

Cheers,

Just to close the loop, here... I found the "socket" to plug my adapter in to after a bit of searching. There are two "panels" that have one or more open 6-pin sockets. The brake controller socket is in the lower panel, on the firewall/floor junction. You have to remove the cover to find it. The trick is that for each socket and plug combo, there is a unique pattern to the two "dividers" between the 3 rows of pins. Look at the pattern of the dividers in the adapter plug you bought and then search for the open socket with the matching pattern.

Simple!

Cheers,

Dean
