Our 2010 Tahoe PPV came without a console. I'm sure they had a police console with all the radio gear in it and removed it when they sold the truck.

I have located a nice console, and plan to install it this weekend. It has the rear seat HVAC controls and power outlets, and the harness that ends near the front of the console. I'm wondering what it would take to connect this harness properly to the truck? I see no loose harnesses, but I'll admit I haven't climbed under the dash to have a closer look. I plan to do that when we pull the front seats, but would like to know if I should expect a harness that's tied up in place that I can simply pull down and plug into the console harness.

I'd consult the FSM, but I'm waiting for Helm to pick up a phone and CALL UPS or FedEx to pick up my order and send it my way. We're working on a month 'in shipping department'!

Wow, 75 views and not a single comment.

We finally got our FSMs. Unfortunately, they sent the 6-volume set for the 2007 model! :emotions122:

We tried to install the console, but ran into a bit of a roadblock, this:

coverbetweenfrontseats-vi.jpg

It's some electrical component. The cover tells you to not step on it, or pour your Margarita on it, so we haven't. Unfortunately, it's getting in the way of us installing the console. Part of the console base hits it trying to slide the console into position, and if we try to just drop the console on top of it, the mounting brackets are 1" off the floor on each side. I've perused the '07 manual some, but am not seeing much for a truck with NO console installed.

So, WTF is it? It's not the BCM. Is it the radio amplifier? If so, we should be able to pull it, put it in place in the console and go about our business, although it really screws up my gun safe install. We can't get the vinyl 'carpet' up w/o removing the seats, and I didn't have my star wrench handy to pull the seat belts, so we didn't have the seats all the way out of the truck.

Any info would be a great help. Thanks.

Cut the vinyl and look underneath it. Since you are putting the console over it you wont be able to see anything underneath anyway. I bet the harnesses are there but are covered up by the PPV vinyl floor

I would expect to find the console harness, if it's there, tied up behind the dash, under the radio/HVAC system. There is some cabling under there, but I'm not sure if it's just a harness that crosses the dash, or if it is the tied-back console harness. I'll probably be replacing the brushed panels that surround the radio/HVAC controls, as they have holes drilled in them from the Sheriff's department use. I'll have a closer look then.

I still haven't found out what that black cover is covering. It would be nice to move it so we can install the console.

According to the 2007 FSM, it's the SIR roll-over sensor. Now, to figure out why a NNBS console doesn't seem to fit.

Finally got time to work on the truck and get the console installed. Had to take the console apart and cut about an inch off the leading edge of the mounting bracket. After that, though, it all bolted right up. I found a harness that was tucked under the front floor covering, but it was all just wire ends, and few of the wire colors matched those on the harness of the console, so trying to get the USB/power outlets, etc., wired up will have to wait for another day.

What a difference it makes, having a console in the truck! It is amazing how big the truck is, yet how little storage it has for little stuff w/o a console. We were even able to secure my wife's gun safe in the console, so she's set to carry. :Big Laugh:

The worst part is just the lack of storage. That, and the PPV vinyl flooring - anything you put on it goes sliding out of reach every time the truck moves. Our two dogs HATE it, NO traction. :signs8:

Now, we can either drop stuff into the console, the 'coin tray/cup holder' area, or drop it in the passenger seat against the console. MUCH better.

Hi, I have SSV Tahoe and I want to buy center console.

Where did you buy yours and how much was it?

Did you ever figure out whats with that circle cover on the floor? did you remove it when you were installing the center console?
