Instrument Cluster Issue?

Has anyone had an issue with taking the dash apart and putting it back together and the mileage changing? My dash was taken apart to be painted then put back together and the mileage changed from 172k to 272k.... ???

Ive never seen or heard of this happening either. Thats why Im confused as to whats going on and how it happened.

Where is the mileage stored at?

Not sure if it's stored in the cluster itself, the pcm or both.

I'm hoping in the PCM or both. Thinking if so, the dealer may be able to reprogram it.

Someone said possibly the BCM may store it.
