New to the site and the world of 4wd.

Bought an 03 z71 with a non working instrument cluster. So I took the trim off an went to remove the cluster and I started to pull the plug off an it locked into place, cluster made a noise. So i turned the truck on and it worked. Also stated 20k less on the mileage than it was guessed to have.

Worked the rest of the day..

Got in the truck this morning, it wasn't working so i tapped on the cluster and bam!! It started working again.

My question is Do i buy a new cluster or could it be a lose wire? Any input?

Most likely a bad ground. I've had mine rebuilt and it occasionally happens. Check all your underhood grounds. @Galante, how many grounds are there?

What are my options if it's a plug issue or a harness issue? I will check grounds tonight possibly.

So I am having some pretty similar issues with mine doing the same thing. Today, I found out if I push the fog light button when it 'dies' it all comes back to life. I took a video of it that I will post in the thread that was linked above since that is my original link. I am going to try a few things on Saturday/Sunday to see if I can figure it out but if not, I am taking it in to a friend shop to have it checked out. All fingers right now to me are pointing to a BCM.

If I smack on the cluster it works fine? Sometimes for a few days at a time. I think I am going to clean the connections this coming weekend see if that helps
