on your customs truck what kind of coverage do you guys have... I have over $18,000 in audio equip in my truck, my insurance company said they cover up to $5,000 and I'm trying to get a rider for more coverage... I just want to feel safe that everything is covered... My truck threw acouple check engine codes and I hate taking it places and leaving it over night, would be a great peace of mind know everything is covered and not just $5000. I have farmers Buaro insurance

For the insurance companies I think it's a matter of practicality for them. In regard to electronics, everything is outdated/upgraded pretty quickly these days. What you pay a ton of money for today you will find on ebay for a fraction of the cost in a year and they kind of get that. Then let's say that you do file a claim for theft. Your rates may increase significantly when renewal time comes around. You are now in a high risk pool. If you are shopping for a new company, they will ask you about claims. If you say that you have none they will find out anyway as they tend to share claim info. Yes, there is a big evil insurance claim database. I'm not saying that you shouldn't buy or spend whatever you want on equipment, just be prepared to pay a lot more to insure it. Most insurance companies are reasonable and will cover up to a certain amount in upgrades, but they look at it like it's your own personal decision to spend however much you spend on fancy stuff, not theirs.

If its farm bureau, then you can get a customization rider on your current policy. I added a 10 k rider to mine just to be safe and it added 120 a year to the bill.

Can we see what $18k worth of audio equipment looks like in a truck? I spent $3-5K at one time on a full audio system but couldn't imaging spending anywhere near $18K. I also put in on my insurance and it was very reasonable.

You need to get an "Agreed Value Policy"
-In short terms you tell them my truck is worth $30,000 and they will build you a policy to cover $30,000

I have an agreed value policy on my Typhoon through Grundy. Sometimes there are limitations on how much you can drive a vehicle with agreed values policies, I would make sure you look into that first. I don't put to many miles on my truck so it doesn't really affect me. I pay $330 a year for $30K worth of coverage.
