Just curious, but do you think there would be a market for an intake pipe that replace the stock pipe but retains the stock air box?

On my IS300, there is such a product and it works great. You get much better airflow to the throttle body and don't have the heat soak issues associated with a cone filter exposed in the engine bay. In addition, it appears generally stock.

I am looking at fabricating such an intake on my Yukon, just wondering what kind of market there would be if I were to make the available to everyone else. This would be a nicely fabricated unit and would be powdercoated...not a home depot special outta dryer hose or anything.

I will post pictures once I have something together.

Cool, thanks for the link. That is exactly what I was planning on building outta mild steel or aluminum...but I might get one of those instead.

Has anyone actually installed one of these in their trucks?

I have it and like it. I think that's the most restrictive part of the intake system. It doesn't have all the weird chambers and stuff on it like my stack one so it sounds cool when you get on it. I doubt it made any huge power difference but I doubt any aftermarket CAI really would anyway, especially if it pulls hot air from the engine compartment. I tune my own truck so I can see how much the performance is affected by hot air.
