Intake Question 2007 GMC Denali 6.2L

Can anyone tell me if you can purchase the piece in the pic or does the whole intake have to be replaced. This vehicle was taken to a GMDealer without any damage and came back with the piece on top of the intake broken and it was broken at the other end of the hose.

that would be part of the manifold. not serviced seperate. i would go back to dealer and let them know what happen, did you have any engine work done to the truck for that to be broken.

It's not my vehicle they was needing my help on it. But from the sound of it the dealer must have tried to remove the hose off of it and when the person got it back that's the way it was. Im not exactly sure what they took it to the dealer for but out of no where the dealer said it would be $800 to replace the intake. I do know the intake wasnt why they took it there in the first place. I recommended them contacting the dealer in which they have and they're waiting on a reply.

Someone sabotage the PCV system? Or were they careless with regards to the intake fitting? Banged down too ******* the engine cover and broke it?

The lower fitting is basically just a rubber hose. Mine cracked just a couple of weeks ago, and I sourced some generic rubber PCV fitting to replace it for $8. The upper connection is part of the intake manifold and a much bigger deal. If the dealer doesn't own up to the damage. The intake manifold can be sourced from ebay, and replacing the intake manifold is pretty straight forward if you have basic mechanical skills.

Perfect example of why I avoid the Stealership at all costs...Takes about ~1 Hour to replace the intake with some hand tools...save $581.05 if you do it yourself

Devil's advocate here:

What work did your friend have done?

How certain are the two of you that it wasn't broken prior? I'm looking for any witness marks on the dirt/oil. Doesn't look like anyone's grabbed it. And based on how much dirt + how far the oil's migrated on the valve cover side, it looks like it's been like that for a while.

Ok,So ill catch criticism for this but if money is tight i would consider "cutting" the hose that surrounds the broken fitting and remove it from the hose. Clean both sides of the component spotless with alcohol. Use superglue as a "quick" way to adhere the fitting back together "perfectly" than "jbweld" the crap out of it to include getting it on the manifold, just leave enough exposed fitting to gently install a new pcv hose. I would bet it will last as long as the current engine has left.
