I bought a 2005 z71 tahoe with bose sound. It had an outdated pioneer dd. I noticed the interference coming thru the back door speaker and I thought replacing the HU would fix the issue. I put a Kenwood dd in its place and I still have the same problem. The previous owner had disconnected the rear post speakers I'm guessing because they had heard enough of that noise. It does get worse with acceleration. Could this problem be stemming from the amplifier? The Hu was professionally installed and they did put a noise filter on the rca going to amp but you can still hear it a little in the front and now all rear speakers are disconnected. Any advice will be much appreciated.

Wow I'm surprised it was "professionally" installed and they didn't resolve this for you. Might be time to consult a different installer.

I'd check the ground wires in your system, especially the amp ground. Make sure it's attached to a solid part of the truck, not just screwed into sheetmetal. Also make sure the metal is clean and free of paint/dirt/whatever. I like to use as short of a ground wire as I can get away with, the same diameter as the power wire.

Did you resolve this issue? I ask because I have an occasional whistle coming from my speakers. I tap on the Head Unit a couple of times and it goes away. I put in a ipod controller not long after I bought the Tahoe. I never noticed it before I put in the ipod controller. So, I'm thinking that has something to do with it but I don't know how it fixes it when I tap on the HU.

I have not taken the time to take the center console out and check the ground wires on the amp. My wife still has to listen to it and I am reminded of it on a daily basis. I believe my problem is coming from the amp somehow. I hope to get to it in the next couple of weeks.

is the amp's power wire running down the same side as the RCAs? Try temporarily running a different set of RCAs from the HU to the amp, not under anythign etc, just lay them over the seats etc. if that stops it, move the RCAs to the other side

What adapters were used? I believe there should be an adapter between the factory wiring and an aftermarket HU to power everything up and should eliminate ground noises.

While he could VERY well have a bad RCA, moving them won't help. If the power wire isn't right next to them, the ground surely will be ;)

As for where to start, the noise is either a bad cable, ground or a good cable that is grounding somewhere which could include the speaker wire itself. I'd open the doors up first.

One other fix is to just unplug the rear speakers as they are fundamentally useless anyways.

basically what he said either one of yer RCA cables or speaker wire is to close to yer power or ground wire

I did want to follow up on this, I know it has been a while. I ran my rear speakers thru the head unit and now I don't have the interference noise.
