I've got a 2005 Yukon XL with most of the bells and whistles. I'm starting to notice that it seems as though some if the various switches, buttons, controls, etc should light up...but don't.

With that being said, is there a definitive list of what should or shouldn't light up? I don't want to start disassembling the truck just to find out that something was never meant to light up in the first place.

I also have a 2001 'Hoe that is in the same condition.

Well, the headlight switch area is dark....
Missing a couple of buttons on the A/C panel...
Window switches are really dim, but I've heard that in the 05 they are SMD LEDs.

all those should light up fine but if they are burnt out or too dim for you you can switch to LED any color output , IMO best mod ive ever done for the money . there should be write ups/ stickys in your section of all part numbers and steps for this

The only difference as far as lighting goes is that the 05 doesn't have the footwell lights like the 00-02 does. I think.

If you have basic soldering skills you can repair all of these yourself. Replacement 12v bulbs are available from Radio Shack. If you want colored LEDs there are websites other members here have used. I replaced the following bulbs (not LED) in my 01 burb.

Climate control panel
Headlight switch
Seat heater switches
Driver side power window switch
OEM Radio were out but opted for an aftermarket radio
Ashtray light (this one is not soldered)

My year does not have steering wheel buttons which typically go out as well. As far as I know, the rest of the interior lights, including the instrument cluster, are not soldered.
