Introduction - SUV Tent ??

Hey Gang,

New to the site. Just bought a 99 Tahoe LT. Black, tan leather, 4wd... nice rig. All service records and 93k on the clock, runs like a top. Out front have a surf fishing rod and cooler rack with slide in receivers welded to the frame. Also have a rear cargo platform for the hitch.

Planning some long camping / surf fishing weekends in NC. Anyone have experience with SUV tents? Looking at the Sportz 8300. The idea of tent with tailgate access is perfect for what I plan to do. But will it hold up in the wind?

Any additional camping conversion ideas, suggestions and pictures would be great.

Welcome to the forums. I usually camp out in the tent but this is an interesting idea. I have camped alot LOL

I got One of these I got it on a CMD M101 trailer. I built it for when I go camping. I love it! I used to ues the set up tents but now I have a full base camp with hot showers and A/C and heat. I say go for it. You wont be sorry with the tent.

I wanted one if these, but I built my own for cheeper and to see if I could

I think I paid 800 on a group buy. Normally they are around 1000 +. If you go to http://forum.ih8mud.com/ and check the sell selection you can find them for sell every now and then or go to the trailer selection and ask about a group buy. They are very heavy duty tent and will last a life time! Good thing is they do hold there resale value too.

Last year i bought a Truck Bedzzz from cabelas. Its an air bed that is shaped to fit in a pickup bed. With the seat folded down in my truck it fits perfectly. My tahoe is the work model tho so it has room around the fender wells..... I ended up using a dodge short bed pickup model.... If that helps
