For power, I added a constant circuit to a female 12v plug under the dash, easily accessible. Into that I have plugged a 12v fast charger and use the oem Apple MagSafe puck since they have the strongest magnets. It goes in beside the vent and snakes down to the charger which is zip tied up near the obd2 port.
The charger also has a usb-a port so I ran a second Lightning charger routed into the map bin on the side of the console which goes to an old iphone that just gets used for streaming music, and will soon be used for video, etc (my main phone on the mount is what I use for nav and phone etc but not thru Bluetooth into the truck - just my preference).
This mount I used for the part that actually holds the puck. Doesn’t get the best reviews apparently but for this purpose it works perfectly. I dremeled the whole back off of this so I used only the plastic circle that the puck mounts to. It comes with double sided tape for that circle in the center to hold the puck in place....
For
this mount I took the rubber cap off and the magnets below and dremeled the top into a circle. The base flexes which mounts in the location I used nicely since it’s curved slightly. Plus the ball and arm put the phone at a perfect angle. Gorilla glued this to the part above....
Trimmed the base of this second mount to fit the area on top of the vent. Taking this pic today is the first time I’ve seen the glue haze on the back. I promise it doesn’t look that bad lol - I’ll clean it up later, but you get the idea.
And
this is the charger I used.
