Odd - because everything that I have read says it should at least charge an iPhone 8. If it can't charge an iPhone 8, what can it charge? Do you happen to have a link to the 2018+ kit you are referring to?

Your 2017 will charge Samsung phones, not iPhones. Get this and you’ll be able to charge everything including your iPhone. It may be cheaper at other places, just make sure it’s an OEM GM part you’re buying like the one linked below.

I found it cheaper than $99. Probably closer to $70 after tax. Can’t remember where, but the internet is where I shopped.
