ISIMPLE Help?

I recently installed an ISimple gateway unit in my 03 denali without navi. The unit seems to work as advertised but it will not display the artist, or song title unless I press display. The system is just showing the songs duration time. I am also having a problem if I was listening to the ipod and shut it off and come back it will not work unless I unplug the ipod and plug it back in. It seems to recognize there is still an Ipod connected but it just doesn't seem to want to load up.
