Hey guys first post so be gentle...lol

I have a 1997 Yukon that was not taken very good care of by it's previous owner. Through some pain and money she is just about a new truck... but I have a weird issue when turning right.... The only way I know to explain it is it feels like the steering lets go and then catches again. This is only at 50mph and over. It doesn't do it at slow speeds. Could that be the upper ball joint or the hub & bearing assemblies?

Yeah I'd like to figure it out because it seems like it's getting worse. I'd hate to be chasing a tire down the road or worse. I'm guessing it has to be one of the two I mentioned. Mainly because that is about the only thing I haven't replaced...LOL

If you don't know what you are looking for under the front end, go in and get an alignment. They'll check over all the parts including ball joints, idelr/pitman arms, wheel bearing, etc. and will tell you if something is broke or out of adjustment ... sometimes if you ask nicely they will even show you what's broke.

What retorq said.... could be a few different things causing your problem, including some that you didn't mention.

i'm still learning stuff about my truck every day, does anyone know if the '97's had the speed sensor style assist on the steering? could it be a goof up with the speed sensor control?

Yes, the 1997s had/have VSS....and yes, that's one of the parts I was referring to above. Best to get it properly diagnosed so you're not just tossing money/parts around.
