New guy here, thanks for the help in advance!
I just recently bought a 2003 Tahoe LS 4x4 with 200,000 miles. Suspension was original in pretty shot. For the rear; I went ahead and ordered Bilstein 5100 24-185783 shocks on eBay. (Description stated that they would work with my truck and would accompany 0-3 inch lift.) I ordered Bilstein 199021 coil springs to replace original GM springs.
Now I’m under the truck now and installing both new shock & spring and the coil springs are too short and not secured into position while in full droop. I can physical pullout & remove the coil with ease even with the shock & sway bar links fully secured. It appears that there is approximately a 1.5” too short.
My goal is to get a level stance on the truck. I just installed Bilstein 5100’s 24-186643 on the front (0-2.5in lift w/ torsion keys which I also have.) I was looking to achieve a level stance on the truck by keeping the rear height Factory and lift the front w/ maxxcam torsion keys by 1.5”.
Unfortunately I’m just outside of return policy on the shocks, so I have to make do with those. (Coils I should still be able to return since I ordered a few weeks after shocks.)
What should I do to fix this and what are my options? (Return springs for a taller spring; if-so what spring? spacers? Will this affect the front now and if so what’s the solution there?) I can’t imagine that the setup is safe as it currently stands.
