I never had any brake codes or issues

If stabilitrak and ABS lights came on, there are internal codes, could be related to the MAF but should have set internal codes. What type of scan tool are you using?

As for the surging, clean the MAF again or replace it.

After I cleared the codes she's running fine now. No check engine light and very very minor surging, nothing like before. I've never seen such a finicky car!

I used an Actron scanner, don't remember which model though
