I have been having a lot of issues with my 97 2door, 4wd 5.7V8...
Things i've done so far, new radiator, fuel filter, plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor.
After I did the plugs and wires it started to misfire on cylinder #5 took everything out and checked all connections, checked gaps on plugs, made sure the distributor cap wasn't cracked, simple checks you do when something like this happens and no results.
My 4wd is no longer working, it's the push button (which I don't like, I like the manual shift better) anyway, I engaged the 4wd Saturday after we got 6" of snow the light stayed lit for about half my trip, avg speed 35MPH, then it started to flash, so I put it back into 2Hi then tried to engage 4Hi and 4Lo and I can hear it trying to engage but the light just blinks and stays blinking, tried rolling the truck and engaging and nothing.
3rd on my way to work today, she would not rev above 2,000 RPM while driving and slowly accelerated, If I gave it full throttle it would just sit at 1500 - 2000 RPM and just stay at current speed about 35 if i took my foot slowly off the gas at some point it would "catch" and it would start to pick up speed, not like normal, but it would pick up about 10MPH every 5 seconds or so. Thinking this could be connected to the misfire a clogged cat or something, I really don't want it to be the tranny, but I don't think it is, I tried putting it in gear holding the brake and giving it gas and it wanted to go with no slipping of the transmission, steady power, only reved it up to 1500 rpm.
I'm almost at the point to get rid of this truck and buy something newer, but I have a love hate relationship with it, I love it and my wife hates it. I know that once I can get everything straightened out she will run forever.
Thanks for all the help in advanced, Tony
