Jack stands, floor jack?

So, its become evident that i need to get a jack and jack stands so i can work on the Yukon. What load rated stands and jacks are you guys using? Curious what i need to safely get the truck up off the tires.

6000 lb jack stands

and i have 10,000 lb rhino ramps for jobs that do NOT require taking the wheels off.

hmm ill have to work that out in Kilogram conversion and see what the store here has. Most the stores in town only have a 1500KG rated jack stands...weaksauce

jackstands are usually rated per pair here in the US

a ton is 2000lbs, a kilo is 2.2 pounds.

so 3 US tons (6000 lbs) is about 2700 Kilos.




I picked the jack, stands, & creeper up for $90 at Sears 2 years ago when I was converting my BMW wagon from a FUBAR'd 4l30e driveline to a 5 speed manual and needed something that would get it about 3 feet in the air. Been very happy with them so far... though my neighbor is happiest since he uses em about 4/5ths of the time

I currently have 3ton stands but personally would prefer 6ton stands and will be buying some very soon. I am definitely no p*ssy but there is nothing that scares me more than laying underneath this big ass Tahoe of mine.

When I put mine up on stands, I always double up AND use the jack to put sizeable pressure underneath the side I'm under. I ain't going out like tybardy

I roll with 12k lb jack stands lol, but I'm working on it in our shop for our semis and those are the ones laying around, then I also use a 20 ton air jack to get it up in the air. Overkill you say? I say MORE POWER

I have 3 tone jack stands and they are good enough!
3 tons is 6000 pounds, so just those two jack stands should be able to hold the whole car up as it ways 5600Lbs (but most of the time its only holding weight tht would be put on two wheels, not four), plus i'm not under my car much so there is nothing to worry about!

a set of the 3 tons will work but u usually gotta use them fully extended, I prefer the 6 tons all the way down to me it just feels safer...

thanks guys, im heading to the store to see what i can find. You wouldnt beleive how much they cost here. Prices for something like jack stands are usually over 300 bucks and with the exchange rate the way it is now, its very expensive. I miss driving to pepboys and being able to pick up jack stands for 30 bones.
