So I've been hanging around here for a couple months now and I recently (last week) picked up an '07 Tahoe so I figured I'd share one of my other projects so you can see where I'm coming from (mostly BMWs and Jeeps for the last 15 years).
If you are not familar with Grassroots Motorsports Magazine (and I highly recommend you become familar) the $2000 Challenge is a race build competition put on by the magazine every October in Gainesville Florida. You need to purchase and modify any vehicle you want for less than the year, so this year it was $2010. It needs to handle well (autocross), look good or just have cool enginering (concourse) and go like stink in a straight line (1/4 mi drags). It is a blast and is half about hanging out with other cars guys in the parking lot at the hotel. I go every year...good times! First couple years I brought a 1990 325is that I bought for $850 and that is a fun little race car for under 2,000 bucks.

I highly suggest you pick up the April issue of the magazine, which should be at the newstand now, but if you want scans of the pages the Jeep is in let me know.
