Junk in oil filter 2006 gmc yukon xl

I drained all oil out of filter before weighing .
8.1 oz of junk in oil filter .

Yes but still seems like alot . I could soak new one in clean 5w30 and drain it ..


Does everyone else use wix filters 51522 Long one ?

Yes, or the equivalent NAPA (made by Wix) long one. Every oil change.

I'd get a filter cutter and open it up to see what the gunk is. I cut all mine its relaxing to know my POS doesn't have sparkly stuff in it lol.

How do you crack them open ?? Will p38 on my leatherman work ? Or is there something Easyer?

This is the one I have but I don't remember paying that much. Maybe i told the GF it was less than $20 and I believed myself
