I am tired of my TBI and have a chance to put in a HOPPED up 383 stroker TPI. The TPI comes with its own ECM. Would I lose my ABS or anything else doing this. I dont care about the 4l60E I'll put in a 700R4.

What brand ECM does it come with?

You should be able to use your old ECM to control the 4L60e.

Just need to share some sensor signals. I have done it before, it works fine.:)

unknown at this time.
The Abs modules in the throttle body years were not fully integrated the with the pcm so as long as the abs can still receive a speed sensor readings and know when you are in 4*4 you should be fine and it should react appropriately as needed.

Let me rephrase my plans. I have a 383 stroker TPI motor, that cannot use the old TBI ECM. So the new motor comes with its own ECM but it will not work the
4L60e transmission. I also beleive the 1996 ECM controls the ABS. (but not sure). So I need find out if can be done or not.

the 96 hoes ABS works off of a speed sensor and a dummy switch on from your transfer case. in theory you can provide your own signals to it. however its much easier to keep your old ECM and disconnect every thing else but the sensors the ABS uses.....

You need to get a “pin out” diagram of the OEM ECM. You also need a schematic of the ECM for the new 383.

Eliminate the connections not used with the stock ECM and share sensor signals for both ECM”s for things like TPS and MAP sensors or what ever the ECM’s use in common.

I would suggest solder connections rather than crimp on. Most of the circuits are 5 volt and connections must be solid.

Also be aware that signal grounds should be connected to be sure voltages are the same between ECM’s.

All the wires should be color coded and it all should be easy. Time consuming, but easy.

After its running you can go back into the OEM ECM and delete some things to keep the check engine light happy………:)
