Hello and glad to be a part of this forum!
I purchased a used 2007 Tahoe LTZ and let's just say, it's been in the shop more than I've been able to enjoy the OGM1 I put into it.

From the start the rear started to make horrible noise on the way from the stealer. Thankfully, I added the extended warranty and took it right in.

Attempt #1 - $200 deductible
Replaced all rear axle bearings.
Result - better but still making noise

Attempt #2 - n/c - but made me feel like I stole something
Replaced bearings again along with pinion but began to hear a droning hum loudest at exactly 55MPH - with or without load - I could literally turn the sound on and off by tapping on the pedal.
Result - much better but still noisy

Attempt #3 - $200 dedcuctible again - don't even get me started!
Tried to tell me that I could just continue to drive it and see if it get's worse!Replaced all bearings again and ring and pinion
Result - thought it was better until I deccelerated from 60 mph and the drone was back! Not hear it worse at just below 60 mph and slowly tapers off to about 40 mph then just cuts out.

At this point I'm at a loss as to what it could be. Outer wheel bearings? Unbalanced drive shaft and/or joints?

Just to point out...the only remaining issues is when there is NO load on the drivetrain now. Before it was all over the place so it's definitely getting better.

Thank you!

I can't tell you what your initial problem was, but I have a good idea what your current problem is, mechanic didn't set clearances up right.....:sorry:
I had a 2005 Mustang GT 5-speed that came with 3.73's, took back to Ford dealership to have Ford Racing 4.11's installed. After the 3rd trip back for "howling noise" they finally got it right. It's a lost art for many.....

Thank you BRRacing24! I'm not sure why these guys can't get it right. It's a big dealership here in TX too. I appreciate your insight and assistance. I'll give them one more shot and if they fail again will just need to take it to a different place.
