First attempt at doing SS AN lines.
Success!
1643333439030.png

I used some green masking tape i had laying around to apply to the braid.
Then used my die grinder to trim/cut the end off.

I left a thin ring of the tape in place for assembly.
and used some dielectric grease to lube the fitting, being careful to not push/ooze it into the hose during assembly.

I have one special -an adjustable wrench.
it worked great, used an evil energy branded one since it was less than $30 shipped off of amazon.

I decided the single an wrench won't cut it, so another one is on order.

I'm not sure if the official tool to do this is a miracle or if it sucks all together. If I ever do that shit again, I'm buying the tool.

When I did my ls swap on my 74, I did all braided fuel and trans lines. Wrapped it super tight with electrical tape, then cut with die grinder. Forced the fitting on, yada, yada, yada. By the time I got all the lines made, my thumbs full of holes and bits of wire from the braided part fuzzing up. Out of everything I did to that truck (full frame off resto), that was the part I hated the most

These went together pretty smoothly.
I'm remembering loosely a video I watched months ago when doing it.
I recalled masking tape for the ends in the video... so i ran with it.

I thought electrical tape for a sec but decided it would probably bunch up on me.

I was able to do a nice tight wrap using the masking tape, but it's also an auto body grade stuff.
Sticks really well.
and it was difficult to trim to a thin ring, stuff didn't want to let go of the braid.

I was also worried that the stainless braid would be very tight (reading reviews for fittings)

These fittings were "Evil energy" via amazon.
they are -8an lines, but the one larger end for the hose connection was -10 for the wrench fitting.

I'm hoping my other connections go just as smooth. :jester:

I think I used jegs and russel brand fittings. Russel brand hose. I did -6. Had fittings to return less style fuel filter then to fuel rail. Trans I did to hard lines I bent all fancy like from radiator to inside the frame rail. I may have had a beverage or 6 when I was doing it

Lol yeah,
I'm planning to try the fancy bends for hard line.
And only use the braid for areas where i think it will need flex.
Pretty much planning to copy the factory line, but with the larger -8

We shall see how well that goes. :jester:

Last time i did this, i found it was one trial run, and then a final after the trial run was all sloppy looking because i made the bend too far out, or too short.
but that was with -6 an

I expect this to be a pita.
