Just thinking out loud here.. I just got a deal on a used k&n intake and was wondering if any one else thinks it would be possible to make it into a cai by putting a sheet metal lid over the filter then duct it back to the stock fender inlet somehow. Does it sound possible?

It's surely possible, but is it truly necessary?

I'm going to drive around, perhaps this weekend, with my Actron meter attached and it will give me "live" IAT readings from my K&N FIPK. I'm very curious what air temps are like going into the intake tract.

The only time I anticipate the temps being relatively high are in very low speed driving, bumper to bumper, etc.

Anything is possible. If you have time to do it. but if your asking will it have the same effect as the actual CAI then ???? the idea is to get cooler air which is denser to your intake so ya if your pulling air from the fender inlet than I would think that is cooler than right off the top the engine.

Hell I have toyed with the idea of taking sheet metal and constructing a shaker style box/compartment to pull air in off my cowl hood.
