Got the UOA report back from Blackstone today.

This is the first report with the new Delvac Extreme 15w40 oil.

I think the lead is finally starting to get washed out of the aftermarket oil cooler because the engine is as quite as a church mouse.

The TBN (additives package) is a strong 3.7 which is higher than even the Mobil 1 Extended Performance oil I was using before. I am not surprised since this is a full synthetic diesel oil designed for extended drain intervals in tractor-trailers.

I will definitely extend out the OCI next go around and see how it does.
Why did you decide to switch over to 15W40? Were you running 5W30 M1 prior to this?

Yes I was running 5w30 M1 Extended Performance prior.

I wanted to run the diesel oil and Mobil only makes the Delvac Extreme (full synthetic) in 15w40.

I figured with 285k miles and the Florida heat going from a 30 weight to a 40 weight wouldn't hurt anything.

Agreed. This is why I run 10W-40 Rotella. It's only available in 5W-40 and 15W-40, so I mix 'em 50/50. 215K miles, but same climate and I sometimes run mine hard.

Long but good thread. Seems like many little details to drop these long boats. I have my 2012 denali xl at a 3/4 drop right now. Back looks lower due to the big audio I have in the back. Yours is definitely clean tho. Here's my junk

How are you liking things since making the switch to the Mobil1 5W30 to the 15W40 Delvac? Did you hit your 10k OCI this go-around yet, or are you still on your way there? Ill be curious as to how similar your numbers will be, in the event you send another sample off to Blackstone.
With all new fluids, sensors, airaid, a new catch can setup, and a myriad of new parts I need to make it a habit to start sending mine in on regular intervals. I haven’t used them for any fluids on my Denali, and kick myself in the ass for not doing it back when I first bought it.

Still on the way there.

The Cold Case is not a direct Plug & Play radiator for our trucks.

It is very close but did require some slight modifications to make everything fit properly.

We had to trim the top and bottom of the fan shroud a little bit to get the fans to sit close enough to the core to fit into the brackets on the radiator.

The upper radiator mounts also required some slight trimming where they over hang the end tanks to clear the core support. I suppose that the lower rubber bushings could have been trimmed down to lower the radiator slightly but I didn't want to take the chance of it sitting too low and possibly rubbing on the bottom.

We also had to bend the condenser brackets forward just a bit to give a little extra clearance so it doesn't touch the radiator tanks.

Other than those small tweaks everything fits and works nicely.

Here are some more pics for reference...

I’m glad you posted these pics. It appears Cold Case has made some running changes to this model. The core is the same depth but the tanks are larger, and set the core more forward. The only trimming I had to do was at the top strap to clear two mounting bolts for the AC condenser coil. Nothing with the fan shroud.

I ended up getting a warranty replacement for the original and it indeed has been updated and the new one bolted right in without any modifications.

I did notice that the core on the newer version is not quite as thick as the original version as seen in this pic...

Original design on top, newer version on the bottom.

Still about twice as thick as the stock one though...

This is comparing stock to original design which was almost three times as thick.
