I have a 2015 Yukon xL Denali with 85k on it, just had the transmission rebuilt with a 12 month, 12k mile warranty. Should I keep this truck or sell it? I have five years left on the note, I owe around 30k on it.

You may be able to even make money on that rig if you sell it now or trade it in on what you may want. Sounds like you are disenchanted with the rig, correct?

For now I would keep it since the transmission is done. My 2016 [120K miles] is going in to the dealer next week for the same thing. I still have no plans on selling it.

Did the dealer do the work or elsewhere?

You may make out if you sell or trade it in right now given the auto market conditions.

That being said; You’ll need every bit of that “extra gain” from the sale or trade to put towards your next vehicle to offset the stupid vehicle prices in the market right now.

If you’re expecting some sort of “deal” it’s not a good time to be buying a vehicle right now, that’s just me.

I’ll keep maintaining what I have and ride it out until the auto market levels out.

Sell it and look up Dave Ramsey. Don’t be a slave to consumer debt.

If you're not thinking of downsizing I'd keep it. You know what you have and it should be reliable for another 100k miles with good care. But a transmission failure at 85k miles scares me some with our '19.

30K on a 2015 sheesh......this is why I make double payments.
that ship is sinking fast, if your going to dump it now would be the moment you probably will never get a better price than now

You guys with K2s and transmissions going out, did you know that the transmission has a thermostat? This thermostat keeps the temperature as high as the engine which kills them. Either "Flip the Pill" or put in the new, lower temperature thermostat that GM recently released. Also, don't let your fluid run past 50K miles. Follow the severe service schedule regardless.

The previous generation trucks usually start to fail at 166K after no service and will easily run into the 200s with regular maintenance. We've seen more than a few 6-speeds hit 300K and one just over 400K miles. This tip applies to all of the transmissions used, 6-speeds, 8-speeds and 10-speeds.

My vote would be to keep it, as the cost of new trucks in this chaotic market are unrealistically high. To replace it and purchase a new one would just saddle you with more debt.

As other folks above have mentioned, with good care and proper maintenance, there is no reason why your truck won't go up to 200k miles and well beyond that.
