This past week I have been in the process of modifying and installing Keldermans GMT900 lowering rear airbags. there is not to much different from the rear axle on the GMT900 from our body style. I have a 2005 Tahoe Lt.

First off, I have a 2005 Chevy Tahoe LT. it has the auto leveling shocks (Not air shocks). I had H&R 2" lowering springs, with belltech shock extenders. Spohn rear pan hardbar, Hellwig adjustable sway bars front and rear. It rode great but was still about .5" taller in the rear. Plus when I towed it would sag more than I liked causing a poor ride. I did a lot of looking online and talked to ALOT of people, and I came to conclusion that Kelderman's kit would be the best for me as I still wanted a drop but has towing capability.

The Kelderman kit, IS NOT a direct bolt on. Life is a lot easier if you have power or airtools.

PASSANGER SIDE:
The bracket is taller than the slot that it fits into. so trim .25" off the bottom of the bracket that is facing the ground. The other contact spot 3/4 ring that slides into the lower spring perch, this ring needs to be cut down .5" so that it will slide in nicely and. I'd call that the easy side.

DRIVERS SIDE:
The lower bracket has a L shape to the side the is on the back part of the axle. This L needs to be cut off but only part of it. I cut right on the bend and went up 3" so that it would have a contact on top of the rear panhard bar mount. Next you need to cut .25" off of the bottom of the mounts and again .5" off the ring in the center that slides into the bottom spring perch. These last cuts will let the bracket sit where it is supposed to on the GMT900. Once you cut off the L part of the bracket you will not have the hole to mount the bolt through to hold the bracket so I would recommend having someone tack weld a few small slots so that you can get them off if you ever need to.

DRIVERS side top mount.
The mount does not need to be changed in any way. It is the top spring perch that needs the help. In keldermans instructions, there are pictures of this the top mount has 3 holes that fit its mount, I found that I needed to drill out the slimmer end of those holes so that I could rotate the airbag to fit a little better in that slot. Nothing to bad at all but it is worth taking the bottom mount off to find best fit when your easily able to rotate it.

I really hope this helps someone who is wanting to add airbags to their Tahoe or Yukon. I believe all in all I spent about 10-15 hours trimming, fitting, Installing, uninstalling, trimming, fitting, and installing to get this to work. It was well worth my time as I am someone who does not give up once I have made up my mind. And in my mind I wanted airbags and I got them FINALLY.

If there is anyone with any questions on this please feel free to contact me and I can help you along.

I like the big bags Kelderman uses, it should prove to ride real nice when not loaded.

I got the Airlift WirelessAIR system that has a wireless controller in cab. pretty slick system. I mounted the compressor under on one of the cross braces that the spare tire sits on. I was able to plumb the airlines above the frame or through it so there shouldn't be any issue with them catching. I will get some more pictures tomorrow afternoon. we are having a crazy rain storm right now.

UPDATE:
There is a clearance issue on the inside of the frame next to the airbag, it was very close at ride height. I spent all day today working on the free travel modification. It fixes the clearance issue by a whole lot. I now need to order new bump stops so the bags don't go to low. I will have pictures to follow tomorrow

The ride is stiffer than I would have thought. I currently have on the self leveling shocks that come stock on the LT. But it might be more the tires I have as they are 10 ply. so it has always had a stiff ride.

10ply is hard and does not absorb the vibrations the same that a standard tire will.
