Kenwood Radio

I just took delivery of a 2011 Tahoe LTZ. It has the Bose sound system and I want to replace the radio with an aftermarket DVD radio and have Andriod Auto and keep the rear DVD entertainment system.

When I talked to Crutchfield they told me that there is limited space/depth to get an aftermarket radio and suggested a JVC radio.

My question is there any Kenwood radios that will work or fit? I prefer Kenwood as I have one installed in my 01 Tahoe.

yes, you just need the correct adapters and a maestro rr module that will retain all the oem stuff

I am running a Kenwood DNX575S in my '08 Burb with the Maestro setup and I love it.


Custom splash screen I made.


Garmin GPS built in.



I also have a Kenwood dash cam and Kenwood CMOS multi angle rear view camera which is pretty slick. The dash camera records to the HU and you can play back right on the screen.

It also has the ability to integrate a radar detector into it as well.

Plus many other features including Car play and Android Auto.

With the Maestro you can also hook it up to the OBD2 port and look at your gauges on the screen as well as TPMS sensors and door ajar warnings and check and clear check engine lights.

Having it hooked up to the OBD2 port also gives you functioning backup lines that curve as you turn your steering wheel as well as showing the backup sensors on the screen.




It makes the Bose system sound a lot better as well.

So I enjoy browsing through Crutchfield and just did so. Strangely enough when I look now only a few JVC (and one Boss) DVD non GPS receivers comes up with guaranteed fit for the 07-14 Yukon Denali. Definitely not true as I have this Kenwood installed with the Maestro iDataLink stuff...



Now Crutchfield says it doesn’t fit. Weird!

In my recent research I found the fit information from Crutchfield to be inconsistent. For instance head unit A will fit, B will not... then you read the manufacturer specs and the two are the same size.

People in the business told me under the skin the Kenwood and JVC are the same.

I have a Kenwood DDX6904S head unit installed in my 07 Yukon XL Denali. Personally, I like Kenwoods (not that they are necessarily any better than other comparable brands), and I have them installed in all of my vehicles.

Thanks. I like looking on Crutchfield and plus their Advisors are very helpful. But for this vehicle they said because of the depth of the space there is not many options and told me about a JVC radio. They also said Kenwood owns JVC.
Personally, I like Kenwood radios. I may look at the DDX6904S & DNX575S. Just need to compare them and see what each has. I know the DNX575S has Garmin maps with the unit.

So, my question. Is there a difference in depth between the Tahoe 2007/2008(which was mentioned above) and the 2011 or they the same?

The dash boards, at least behind the HU should all be the same. Some of the trucks have the upgraded Bose system with the center speaker in the dash but as far as I know they have the same amount of space behind the HU.

I did cut and remove some plastic behind my HU just to make some extra room for all the wiring and Maestro module and such but it wasn't necessary, it just makes it easier to tuck everything in there.

So all the radios mentioned above have a depth of 6-2/16 inch. I'm looking to install a Kenwood DDX9906XR with depth of 6-5/16 inch. Would that radio still fit? I don't want to purchase and it doesn't.
