We have a 2 year old and a 6 month old and my wife also watches a 3 year old. The Tahoe is hers and she loves it, with the buckets in the middle. The 3 year old is able to buckle her own so she just sends her on back. We keep one of the third row folded down so there is extra room back there. Everyone keeps saying a bench but I wouldn't trade our Cpts for anything.
We are driving to SW FL next week and stacking the kids behind me. We will take out the unused third row, and use our Yakima for our luggage. This allows the wife to put her seat back all the way down for sleep, leaves the captain behind her open so she can climb back and hang out with the girls and the buckets allow her to "roam."
I guess it all depends on if you will be transporting others, often. I can tell you that when my buddy and his wife come with us, without the kids, him and I love the captains chairs and DVD. Our wife's aren't so crazy about it.
