Well my Tahoe was stolen back in October of 2011 and just back in May everything was settled! It took forever! It was stolen from my parents house while my wife was visiting. My wife called me hysterically shouting that the truck was gone! I was at work 60 miles away and felt helpless. I told her to call OnStar to see if they could shut it off or locate it, but they said no because we needed a police report! We were pissed because we live 10 minutes from the border and we knew they would take it across the border. She called the cops and it took them an HOUR to get there!!
When the cop finally showed up he took his time asking alot of questions like: could your husband have taken it?, do you owe anyone money?, are you up to date on your payments? Which pissed us off even further because time was passing by that could have helped us locate the truck. Finally he said he would call OnStar for us and OnStar said they would call back in 1 hour to give us the location of the truck. Five minutes later they call back and say, "Your truck is in another country." (DUH) I was so pissed because I told them they needed to hurry up before that would happen but did they listen? NO!
The "investigation" took forever and I was calling Progressive almost everyday and asking for the status. They would tell me that they couldn't close the case because they knew where the truck was and the local authorities would have to confirm that they could not retrieve the truck. I kept telling them that it wasn't gonna happen because of all the violence that is going on in Mexico. No law enforcement agency in their right mind would risk their lives for a stolen vehicle. Finally the local authorities told Progressive that they would not recover the truck and they closed the case Finally! Don't even get me started on the GAP claim!! So much paper work and Progress and GAP Were looking for any excuse not to pay because the truck was only 7 months old. Well now everything is settled and I can relax I already bought a new truck too... no thanks to my insurance!! END RANT...
By the way they didn't even break a window to get in!
