I have a 1999 tahoe with barn doors in the back and I have a water leak that i cannot seem to resolve. I have replaced the weatherstripping around the outer opening. the water seems to be leaking in from the bottom corner on the drivers side where the corner of the weatherstripping meets the door. does anyone have any ideas to fix this??

thanks

have you replaced them all? there is more then one piece in that frame and door assembly. can you prove it is not getting thru another source?

i replaced the entire outter opening weatherstripping. i have not replaced the other smaller pieces attached to the door. i currently have all the trim pieces removed and i do not see it coming in from anywhere else. i sat inside just a little bit ago and made it rain on the truck. the water is coming in from the bottom corner of the drivers side and "overflowing" over the weatherstripping and into the groove on the inside of the truck. hope that makes sense

no body damage anywhere?check the seal on the center mount stop light and quarter glass on left side. may need to remove trim for that.

no body damage. truck has never had any rear end damage. i replaced the seal on the 3rd brake light a couple of days ago because i thought that might be the problem. did not fix my leak. trim has all been removed and no leaking from the rear windows.

im sorry i misunderstood your previous question... the outer weatherstripping was from LMC truck and it was one piece that goes around the entire outer opening. i made my own gasket for the 3rd brake light.

from what I can see is the drivers side barn door does not press against the gasket and just "makes contact".the water is running down the gasket and coming into the truck at the bottom corner.

the question is why am I just now experiencing this problem. i replaced the weatherstripping about 6 months ago but just began to experience the leak about 2 months ago...

but the bigger question and more importantly is how do I go about fixing it

not sure in your case. you either have a bad seal or something has to be damaged on the body. sure no one bumped the hinges perhaps? leaks just don't start without reason. perhaps the door latch mechanism is broken or worn. look for cracks in the latch arm. i can't get near mine but see if it looks like there was a plastic cap over the hook arm that may be worn or missing. I think i saw them used on the other doors as well i thought. I can't get to mine for a few days.
